Julia Cameron– :
A wonderful early morning experience with Budget Arugam Tours!
We booked a 3:30 AM pick-up, and they were perfectly on time — a great start to the day. Our guide, Ansa, was very friendly and welcoming. On the way, he bought us some tasty local pastries and a boxed chocolate drink, which was a nice touch to start the Evening.
We then boarded small catamaran boats and sailed into the lagoon. Ansa guided us in English, which was clear and easy to understand. He pointed out various bird species native to the area, and we also had the amazing chance to see wild elephants up close near the lagoon. The ride took us gently through the beautiful mangrove forest, navigating between the trees, which was a unique experience.
He also brought us to a pristine, secluded beach near Pottuvil Point — a stunning spot where the lagoon meets the sea. There, he introduced us to the “palm fruit,” a special local delicacy, and let us taste it. On the way back, he even took us to see huge wild crocodiles in their natural habitat — a thrilling sight!
We were returned to our hotels right on time, ending a peaceful and enjoyable evening. Recommended for anyone visiting the area — the soft evening light, the calm waters, and Ansa pleasant guiding style made it a very nice experience.
